去日本遊玩,要提前了解哪些當地的風俗?

If you want to travel in Japan, here are the fundamental local customs you need to know in advance:

Number 1: When you walk on the road and eat something, it won't help you make a good impression to others. They will think that you are so "dirty".

Number 2: You shouldn't make phone calls on public transport. It would be better to adjust the cellphone ringing to the silent mode! Also, you are not allowed to use your mobile phone near a priority seat(優先席), whether it's surfing the Internet, texting messages or playing games.

Number 3: You can take food(進食) on public transport. In terms of manners, it is recommended to eat simple food such as rice ball(飯團子) with small taste. You should keep it clean and tidy in your eating process. After the meal, take away the rubbish.

Number 4: In Japan, tipping(給小費) is considered as an insult(侮辱). The restaurants usually charge a service fee(收取服務費) after a meal.

Number 5: In Japan, people are encouraged to take their garbage home and sort the garbage(垃圾分類), so it's not easy to find trash cans(垃圾桶) on the street.

Number 6: It is used to(習慣於) remove your shoes(脫鞋) before entering many places, such as individual restaurants(個別餐廳), temples(寺廟) and fitting rooms(試衣間).

Number 7: Japan respects the right of portrait(尊重肖像權). Therefore, do not take photos of Japanese people on the street randomly! Even if you buy goods(貨品) in the store, you should get approval first based on politeness.

Number 8: When you take the elevator(搭乘電梯), if you stand in front of the button(電梯按鈕), you should help others to press the door open and close buttons. When you out of the elevator(出電梯), you need to let others get out first, and you get out last!
