There is a character called Nico, who's only twelve in this film, and he also has to do two timelines. One is in the TV, and the one who's playing against him is outside of it. Well, the thing is, with the boy, I had a lot of rehearsals.
And my job was, first, to make him understand the movie. He was a huge fan of The Invisible Guest. So that helps.
And then I also had the support of the father, which is very important for me, because in Spain we have a strong rule about having underaged kids on set. The father and the mother were with us all the time during rehearsals and the shooting. they were part of the crew. They are not in the movie but they were part of the crew. And for me that was of a lot of importance because I needed to first, establish the relationship with the kid, to make sure he understands what we are doing, he understands what this movie is about, and the importance of your character.
And then we start to rehearse. First we rehearse with Vera on the TV. Then you rehearse with Angel, just small steps. Once he knew everything, I hired the best kids acting coach in Spain to be with the kid at all time. She spends a lot of time with the kids and also with the mother of the kids in the movie, Maria and for instance, they went on weekend together, just to have fun. And they were pretending they were mother and kids. So we had a lot of games for for him in order to be sure that he was going to give us his best.
And then finally, finally he met his other. I saved that for the last, just to be sure that he had the character. I hide completely the other from him. And at the end it was shocking, like what we see in the movie, it was shocking when he sees himself as an old guy. I saved it for the last because I thought it was important for the kid to save some some pure feelings about seeing himself as an older man.
And as for Chino, it was different because he's an actor and he has done this a lot of times before. He is so pure looking, a clean guy. He's so pure and he's also the son of a very famous Argentinian actor, Ricardo Darín, very huge in Spain and South America, he is the best. Chino is his son. And in fact, he changed the accent. He's Argentinian. He spend four months, just to adjust his accent.
And it’s funny, his name Chino, actually means China in Spanish.

有趣的是，他的名字Chino，在西班牙語裏指的是中國。
